Description
More and more devices are being enabled with IP - household appliances, handheld devices, even automobiles. The expectation is that more and more of these devices will be mobile. The requirement is that an IP device be able to move, such as someone using a laptop on a train, and change points of connection to the network. Mobile IP allows this to happen while still maintaining all upper layer connections and application sessions. This e-Topic describes the unique features of IPv6 that support Mobile IP efficiently and effectively. It includes thorough explanations of Bidirectional Tunneling, allowing a Mobile Node to communicate with any other IPv6 device, and Route Optimization, which routes packets via the most efficient path from a Mobile Node to other Mobile-capable nodes.
