Description
Fixed Mobile Convergence (FMC) is a converged communications solution that focuses on flexibility by merging cellular mobility with private voice networking. In the residential marketplace FMC typically links cellular mobility with fixed broadband access techniques through either Wi-Fi or Femtocells, and can be positioned narrowly as a cellular enhancement or broadly as a fixed line voice service bypass. The enterprise marketplace is a little more complex, and FMC options can be quite varied. Enterprise FMC often merges cellular mobility with the corporate IP network, sometimes linking in the office deskphone, sometimes not. In all cases, the goal of FMC is flexibility via seamless call or session continuity across multiple domains using a single wireless handset
In this etopic we will begin with a high level introduction of Fixed Mobile Convergence, and then explore FMC architectures and services in the Residential/Small Business marketplace and the Enterprise marketplace.
